Mariner

Kirkcudbright.—Early in the morning of the 31st July the Isle of Whithorn coastguard reported that a small yacht, anchored in Whithorn bay, was in a dangerous position, owing to a change in the direction of the wind. A moderate S.W. gale was blowing, with a heavy sea, and the weather was thick, with rain. The motor life-boat Morison Watson was launched at 3.15 A.M. and found the yacht to be the Mariner, of Dumfries, with two men on board, bound from the Clyde to Annan. She stood by her, and when the tide allowed, escorted her into Whithorn harbour.

She returned to her station at 9.15 A.M.
