Avonglen

Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. — Shortly before 6 P.M. on the 7th July the coastguard reported a vessel ashore on the Scaurs of Cruden. The weather was fine, but later the S.W. wind freshened, and as there was a fairly heavy swell, it was decided to send the motor life-boat Duke of Connaught. She left at 7.10 P.M. and found the steam trawler Avonglen, of Aberdeen, ashore, with a crew of ten on board. At the request of the master the life-boat stayed with the vessel until she refloated. The trawler, which had been bound for the fishing ground, then made for Aberdeen, and the life-boat returned to her station, arriving at 3.30 A.M.—Rewards, £11 2s. 6d..
