Alderman and Coxswain

COXSWAIN H. W. PEARSON, of Walmer, who was vice-chairman of the Walmer Urban District Council, has been ap- pointed an alderman of Deal now that Walmer has become part of the borough of Deal. Coxswain Pearson was second- coxswain at Walmer from 1909 to 1912. when the station was closed.

When it was reopened in 1927 he again became second-coxswain and was promoted coxswain three months later. During his ten years of service as an officer of the life-boat Walmer has rescued 81 lives..
