The RAF Seaplane 1231

On the morning of the 2nd November the coastguard tele- phoned that a seaplane was down on the sea, and apparently in difficulties, one mile east of North Foreland. A moderate N.W. breeze was blowing, but the sea was smooth. The motor life-boat Prudential was launched at 10.16 A.M., and found the R.A.F. sea- plane 1231 down with engine trouble.

She stood by while repairs were carried out and returned to her station at 11.55 A.M., after the seaplane had taken off for Felixstowe.—Rewards, £8 Is. 6d..
