Millicent

On the after- noon of the 19th November the coast- guard telephoned that the local fishing boat Millicent, with three men on board, had been out for twelve hours, and some anxiety was felt for her safety. A moderate north wind was blowing, and the sea was smooth, but a thick fog had come down. Enquiries were made along the coast, but no news of the Millicent could be got, and the motor life-boat Jane Holland was launched, with great difficulty, at 6.15 P.M. She found the Millicent alongside the Royal Sovereign lightship with her engine broken down, and towed her and her crew back to safety. She returned to her station at 9.30 P.M.— Rewards, £47 2s. 6d..
