The Portrait on the Cover

THE portrait on the cover is of Major-General the Right Hon. the Lord Mottistone, P.C., C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O. (Major-General Seely). Lord Mottistone was chosen coxswain of the Brooke, Isle of Wight, life-boat last year by his fellow members of the crew. He has served in the life-boat for forty years. In 1891 he was awarded a gold medal by the French Government for gallantry in saving life at sea.
