Mr. B. J. Kirkham, of New Brighton

Mr. Benjamin James Kirkham, of New Brighton, who died on 9th January, at the age of seventy-four, was one of the oldest and most valued of the Institution's honorary workers.

He had been associated with it for some forty years, first as honorary secretary of the New Brighton Life-boat Satur- day Fund, and since 1917 as the honorary secretary of the New Brighton station, one of the most important on the coast. In 1920 Mr. Kirkham was awarded the Institution's gold badge, and in 1931 a binocular glass, as small marks of the Institution's gratitude for his long and devoted help.
