Twelve local fish- ing cobles put out early on the morning of the 7th December, in fair weather.

At 9.45 A.M. a strong east breeze was blowing, a heavy sea was running, and it was raining. Three cobles were seen making for home, so the pulling and sailing life-boat Hollon the Third was launched, and escorted them all into safety.
