The S.S. Pitwines

At 9.40 P.M. on the 13th November a telephone message was received from the Coastguard that the s.s. Pitwines was aground, about three quarters of a mile W. of Bar Buoy. The Pulling and Sailing Life-boat Harmar was launched and found the steamer in a dangerous position between the Train- ing Bank and Old Harry. A strong E. wind was blowing with a rough sea.

At the request of the master she stood by, and in the early morning ran out lines to a tug. The Pitwines was eventually refloated, and the Life-boat arrived back at her Station, at 10.30 A.M.
