Daramis

On the morning of the 18th July the small yacht Damaris, of Lowestoft, left Southwold, with two men aboard, intending to run to Lowestoft, but found the wind and sea too much for her. She tried twice to return to Southwold but failed, and sailing south, she anchored on a lee shore. She had been kept under watch from the shore, and at 2.55 P.M. the Southwold Motor Life-boat Mary Scott was launched to her help. A moderate, but very squally, N.N.W. breeze was blowing, and there was a heavy swell and rain. The Life-boat came up with the Daman's about four miles south of Southwold, took her in tow and brought her and the two men on board safely to harbour.—Rewards, £8 8s..
