Comfort, Daisy and Widgeon

On the morning of 12th May, a moderate S.E. gale was blowing, with a very heavy sea. Three local fishing boats—Comfort, Daisy and Widgeon—were at sea, and as it was seen that they could only cross the harbour bar at a big risk, it was decided to launch the No. 1 Motor Life-boat John Russell. This was done at 9.50 A.M., and she escorted the three boats into safety, arriving back at her Station at 11 A.M.—Rewards, £6 13s..
