About 1 P.M. on 6th April the Coxswain saw that the small motor fishing boat Lively, of Stomoway, was in difficulties outside the harbour. A moderate W.N.W. gale was blowing, with a rough sea and sleet showers. The Motor Life- boat William and Harriot was launched, and found the boat drifting helplessly, with her engine disabled and her sail carried away, and in danger of being swamped at any moment.
