breeze, with a rough sea, as the Coast- guard had reported that a schooner was in distress in the bay. She was found to be the auxiliary schooner Volant of Kilkeel, coal-laden from Birkenhead to Kilkeel, with a crew of four. She had stranded well up the beach and her crew were taken ashore by means of the Life-saving Apparatus.
