The Local Shrimping Boat Jenny

At about 11.30 A.M. on the 15th January the Coxswain was informed by fisher- men, who had just returned, that the local shrimping boat Jenny, with only one man on board, was flying a distress signal. In a moderate S. to S.W. gale, with a rough sea and rain, the Motor Life-boat J.H.W. was launched. This was her first service. She found the boat at anchor in a dangerous position near Salters Buoy, at the mouth of the River Ribble, with a shrimp bag flying as a signal of distress. After towing her to smoother water, the Life-boat put one of her Crew on board to help the man in the boat, and then towed her to her moorings. The Life-boat returned at 2 P.M.—Rewards, £6 17s. Qd..
