BEDFORD.—The Branch has suffered the loss of an old friend and worker by the death in December of its late Hon. Secretary, Mr. H.

Fryer-Smith, shortly after his retirement. He was Hon. Secretary for twenty years, having been appointed in 1911. In 1922 he was pre- sented with a Life-boat Picture as a mark of the Institution's gratitude for his services.
