THE National Safety Week Council, on which the Institution is represented, is arranging to hold its second Safety Week from llth May to 16th May next.

The object of the Week is to arouse the public to the need of additional effort to reduce the heavy loss of life from accidents of all kinds, and the Council is able to report that as a result of the first " Safety Week," held last year, there was a marked reduction in the number of accidents.

Last year the Institution invited the Honorary Secretaries of Life-boat Stations, wherever possible, to arrange for their monthly or quarterly exercises of the Life-boats to take place during the Week, and the same request is made to them this year, as the Institution feels that everything possible should be done during this Week to bring home to the public what the Life-boat Service does to ensure safety at sea..
