New Appointments.

THE Viscountess Bertie of Tliame, who has been Chairman of the Central London Women's Committee of the Ladies' Life-boat Guild since 1925, has resigned, owing to the fact that she is now living almost entirely in the coun- try. Lady Bertie was awarded the gold brooch of the Institution in 1929, in recognition of her valuable services to the Life-boat Cause. She has been succeeded as Chairman by Lady Dorothy d'Oyly Carte, the Deputy-Chairman, who has been a member of the com- mittee since 1924, and the Viscountess Bearsted has become Vice-Chairman..
