Prime Minister of New Zealand Landed By a Life-Boat

ON October 30th the Atlantic Fleet gave a battle practice display off Portland which was witnessed by" the Prime Ministers of the Dominions.

After the display, the H.1VL Destroyer Westminster took Mr. Coates, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, and Mrs.

Coates, up Channel, intending to land them at Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, where they were to spend the week-end with Admiral of the Fleet the Earl Jellicoe, late Governor-General of New Zealand. The wind was blowing so strongly that when the destroyer arrived she could neither put in to the pier nor launch a boat. At the request of Lord Jellicoe, who was waiting on shore, the Life-boat, manned by volunteers, took him out to the destroyer and brought back Mr. and Mrs. Coates..
