The Life-boat Kentwell was called out on the 29th November to the assistance of the s.s.

Framfield, of London, which stranded on the Newcombe Sands whilst bound from North America with a cargo of iron ore. The Life-boat took off the crew of twenty-four men on board, as a strong S.S.W. gale was blowing with a i very heavy sea. The vessel remained stranded on the Sands, and during the next two days the Life-boatmen were occupied in trying to save her.
