A Motor Launch

On the morning of the 23rd December, Coxswain Cook was called up by a messenger, who reported that a motor launch was on the rocks near the Lower Sandgate Road. The crew of the Life-boat were assembled and the boat proceeded to the assistance of the vessel. With considerable diffi- culty the crew of six hands were saved and the boat returned ashore. At the time of the service a moderate south- westerly gale was blowing with a very heavy sea, and the vessel became unmanageable owing to her engine breaking down..
