The S.S. Leda

The Life-boat Charles Dibdin was launched to the assistance of the s.s. Leda, of Amster- dam, which had stranded on the Good- win Sands, on the 4th November.

When the Life-boat reached the vessel, the Coxswain inquired if the captain required any assistance, and in reply he stated that he was expecting tugs to tow him off at high-water, but that he would be glad if the Life boat would in the meanwhile stand by him. She accord- ingly did so, and when the vessel had been successfully refloated by tugs, the captain expressed his thanks, and the Life-boat returned to her station.
