At 1 P.M. on the 4th December Coxswain Green observed a schooner in distress off Great Yar- mouth, she having parted from her anchors during a strong S.S.W. gale.

The Life-boat Hugh Taylor was launched and proceeded to the vessel's assistance.

She proved to be the schooner Union, of Portsmouth, and by the efforts of the Life-boatmen and steam - drifters the schooner and her crew were got into safety.
