Jehoiah Wick

In response to signals of distress, the Life-boat Charles and Eliza Laura was launched at 3 P.M.

on the 2nd December, and rescued the crew of four hands of the fishing-boat JehoiaJi Wick, of Hoylake, which was in distress owing to a whole S.S.W.

gale and a choppy sea. When the men had been taken off, it was noticed that the smack Vigilant, of Hoylake, was making signals of distress. The Life- boat, therefore, proceeded to her, and rescued her crew of four hands. It is reported that the greatest credit is due to Coxswain Richard Owens for the manner in which he handled his boat, as the wind was blowing with almost hurricane force..
