In response to signals of distress, the Life-boat Charles and Eliza Laura was launched at 3 P.M.

on the 2nd December, and rescued the crew of four hands of the fishing-boat JehoiaJi Wick, of Hoylake, which was in distress owing to a whole S.S.W.

gale and a choppy sea. When the men had been taken off, it was noticed that the smack Vigilant, of Hoylake, was making signals of distress. The Life- boat, therefore, proceeded to her, and rescued her crew of four hands.
