information was received that a vessel was flying signals of distress, and the crew of the Life-boat Charles Whiiton were assembled and the boat proceeded to sea in a heavy W.N.W. gale. When two miles S. by E. of Clogher Head she fell in with the lugger Cecilia, of Balbriggan, which had had her mast carried away. The four men on board were rescued in an exhausted condition, and about twenty minutes later the vessel became a total wreck. A heavy sea was running at the time that this service was performed, and the Life- boat was reported to have behaved splendidly..
