Resolute
On the 4th May the Lighthouse keeper reported that a small vessel was ashore about half a mile to the east of Shoreham Harbour, and making signals of distress.
The crew of the Life-boat William Bestell were assembled and the boat launched.
They found the fishing-smack Resolute, of Ram sgate, which fished from Brighton, with three men on board. There was a strong S.W. wind at the time, and the sea was rough; but the Life-boat suc- ceeded in saving the vessel and her crew when the tide made..
