A Pilot Cutter

Shortly after 9 P.M. on the 25th October a wireless telegraph message was received from the Sunk Light-vessel reporting that a vessel was firing signals of distress.

The steam Life-boat City of Glasgow was immediately despatched, and when she was about midway between the Cork and Sunk Light-vessels rockets were seen to the eastward. The Life- boat proceeded in that direction and found the Trinity House pilot cutter in a dismasted and helpless condition.

The master reported that there were nine men on board who wished to get to their station as soon as possible. As there was no other vessel available the steam Life-boat took the cutter in tow to Harwich Harbour. A fresh S.E.

breeze was blowing at the time with a rough sea..
