Reinhard
The German ketch Reinhard, of Westrhauderfehn, stranded on North Sunderland Point during hazy and very cold weather in the early morning of the 24th February. A strong southerly breeze was blowing at the time and the sea was inclined to be heavy. The Life-boat Forster Fawsett was promptly launched at 2.15 A.M., and soon reached the vessel, which was likely to become a wreck. The Life-boat succeeded in getting alongside, and rescued the crew of three men, who by this time were up to their knees in water, and the ship very soon afterwards became a total wreck. At the time of the accident the ketch was bound from Bremen to Berwick-on-Tweed with a cargo of oil- cake..
