At 3.45 P.M. on the 8th April information was received that two salmon cobles were in great danger owing to the wind having shifted from W. to N., and increased to a hurricane, causing the sea to break right over them. The No. 1 Life-boat, Sarah Jane Turner, was promptly launched, but before she could reach the boats, one of them had been hauled ashore by means of a rope with a buoy attached, which had been floated to her by people on shore. The boat therefore went to the other coble, and with some difficulty rescued the four men on board.
