Gladiolus

The trawler Gladiolus, of Lowestoft, stranded on the North Pier Extension when inward bound on the 16th May. In answer to her signals of distress the No. 2 Life- boat Stock Exchange was launched and proceeded to her. On arrival the Captain stated that he did not require any immediate help. As the trawler was rolling very heavily, the Coxswain thought it advisable to stand by the vessel until a tug came and towed her off. There was a gusty breeze and a heavy sea at the time..
