Invicta
At 5 A.M.
on the 30th September the Coxswain of the Life-boat James Stevens No. 9, received a message from the pier-head that a ketch was driving down on to the pier. The Coxswain assembled his crew and proceeded to the assistance of the vessel, and on reaching her, the mate engaged the men to salve the vessel if possible. She proved to be the Invicta, bound to Hull with a general cargo.
At the time of the accident a moderate S.W. gale prevailed, but with the assist- ance of the Life-boatmen the vessel was j got clear of the pier, and was taken to | Gravesend..
