The barge Envoy, of Dover, was overtaken by a whole N.N.W. gale and very heavy sea when near the Brake Sands, on the 30th September. The Life-boat Charles and Susanna Stephens was despatched to her assistance a few minutes after midnight, and stood by the barge whilst efforts were made by the harbour tug to save her. Some considerable difficulty was experienced in rendering assistance, but eventually the tug was able to get the barge into safety..
