At 10.15 P.M.

on 23rd November, during an easterly gale, a vessel was reported ashore at Waxham. The No. 1 Life-boat 5ith West Norfolk Regiment was transported on her carriage to the vicinity of the distressed vessel and launched. She succeeded in rescuing the crew of seven men and landed them at 3 A.M. next morning. The vessel was the schooner Arcturus, of Riga, bound to Woodberry, timber laden..
