Two fish- ing-boats named the Thistle and Mizpah were overtaken when at sea on the 3rd May by a strong gale from S.S.E.

As considerable anxiety was felt for their safety the No. 1 Life-boat Sarah Jane Turner was launched. By the time the boat was afloat the boats could be seen running for shelter under shortened canvas.
