The Brix- ham Life-boat, Betsy Newton, rescued the crew of four men from the Plymouth ketch Vesta during a whole N.E. gale on 12th January. The Vesta lost one of her cables and drove perilously near the rocks. The crew were rescued just in time, as within half an hour the other cable parted, and the vessel went ashore, the heavy seas soon destroying the craft..
