At 10.10 P.M.

on the llth January the Coastguard reported that two of the fishing-boats belonging to Arklow were off Courtown Harbour in need of assistance owin"' to the whole N.E. gale causing a very heavy sea, which endangered the lives of the crews. The Life-boat Eobert Fifz- Stephens was launched very promptly and saved four men from the boat I Morning Star and four others from the ' St. Joseph. One boat became a complete wreck, but fortunately no lives were lost..
