Young Fox

At-6.30 A.M.

on 19th February the watchman re- ported that a vessel was ashore about one and a half miles north of the station.

The crew of the No. 1 Life-boat Edward Birtteck were promptly assembled and the boat launched. On reaching the place indicated she found the ketch Young Fox, of Goole, loaded with scrap iron and bound from London to Grange- mouth. The Life-boat stood by her until the seas began to break over her, when they rescued the five men on board and landed them on the beach near their vessel. As it was blowing a gale from S. by E. the vessel would probably become a total wreck..
