At 9.25 P.M. on the 9th March a telephone message was received stating that a vessel was ashore to the eastward of Jury's Gap. There was a strong S.W.

breeze at the time and the sea was rough. The Coxswain and crew of the Life-boat John William Dudley were assembled and the boat launched. The Life-boat brought up within speaking distance of the vessel and found that she was the steam trawler Margaret, of Rye. The master stated that he did not require any assistance, but as the seas were breaking over the trawler the Coxswain considered it was advisable to stand by her until the men on board were out of danger..
