At 2.15 A.M.

on the 24th January the Coastguard reported that a message had been received stating that a smack was ashore about two miles below the town, near Covehithe. The No. 1 Life-boat Alfred Gorry was smartly launched, and on arriving at the vessel, which proved to be the Integrity, of Lowestoft, the master engaged the Life-boatmen to save his vessel. Two anchors were laid out and eventually, with the assistance of a tug, the vessel and her crew of five hands were saved.
