At 10.30 A.M. on the 6th August, whilst the fishing fleet were returning from sea, in a strong northerly wind and rough sea, serious congestion took place in the harbour channel, and it was feared that serious damage might be caused to life and property. On the orders of two members of the Local Committee, the Life-boat Anna Maria Lee was launched, and took up her position at the entrance of Balaclava Harbour in readiness to give assistance should any casualty occur. Fortunately nothing happened to require the services of the Life-boat, and after standing by for four hours she returned to moorings in the new South Harbour..
