Belle

During a moderate E.S.E. gale on the 1st August the schooner Belle of the Plym, of Plymouth, stranded on the Doombar, at the entrance of the harbour. The chief officer of Coastguard reported the casualty by telephone at 6.30 P.M., and it having been ascertained that the vessel was in a position of danger, the No. 1 Life-boat Arab was launched.

When the Life-boat reached the schooner, the tide was flowing, the Coxswain therefore stood by her until 10.15 P.M., when she was successfully towed clear by the local tug..
