The Life-boat Charles Dibdin was launched at 11.10 P.M. on 18th October in response to a message stating that a vessel was on fire near the fairway buoy. Owing to the fog prevailing some time was lost before the Life-boat could find the vessel, but on arrival they found the crew of three hands in a very small dinghy standing by her. The Life-boat and dinghy remained near the vessel until she sank, and then the Life-boat took the dinghy in tow and proceeded to Ramsgate. The vessel on fire was the motor-boat Lethe, of Ramsgate..
