On the 7th August in fine weather the Coastguard reported that a fishing-boat was aground on the South Scroby Shoal, and the Life-boat John Burch was launched. On reaching the vessel, which proved to be the Emily, of Yarmouth, the Coxswain found that her trawl had fo.uled a large anchor and being unable to clear it the tide had driven the vessel on to the sand.

The Life-boat rendered valuable assist- ance in getting the vessel clear, and having saved the net assisted the vessel into harbour and landed the crew of four hands..
