The Steamers North Gwalia and Mauranger

The No. 1 Life-boat Mark Lane was also launched on the 25th April in connection with the collision of the steamers North Gwalia and Mauranger, but on reaching the former found that she had sunk and was abandoned. A tug came up and re- ported that they had eight hands of the sunken steamer aboard, but that fifteen others were missing. The Life-boat pro- ceeded to search for them, and when near- ing the Newarp Light-vessel she fired two guns. The Life-boat therefore went to her, and found that the fifteen men were on board having reached the Light- vessel in their own boat. The men were transferred to the Life-boat, which landed them in safety at Yarmouth..
