The S.S. Hamilton
On the night of the 13th April the s.s. Hamilton, of Stranraer, when about to enter Port- rush Harbour, in. a strong westerly gale, was caught by the tide and sea and driven on to the rocks. Owing to the heavy sea running at the foot of the Life-boat slip, the Life-boat Hopwood was taken to the harbour by road and launched over the quay. She proceeded to the steamer and rescued four of the crew, the remainder, three in number, being saved by the Coastguard by means of lines from the shore. The vessel was bound from Maryport to Portrush with coal..
