At 1.20 A.M. on the 23rd April the Coast- guard reported that a vessel was ashore in Woodston Bay, four miles south of Johnshaven. The crew of the Life-boat Sarah Ann Holden were quickly assem- bled, and the boat left for the wreck, which proved to be the steam trawler Kirton, of Granton. After some diffi- culty, owing to the heavy sea, the Life- boat succeeded in rescuing the crew of nine hands and returned to harbour safely. Shortly after the Life-boat reached harbour the Monbrose Life-boat arrived, she also having put off to the trawler and being unable to regain her station.
