In response to guns from the East Goodwin Light- vessel indicating a vessel was on that part of the sands, the Life-boat Charles Dibdin was launched at 8.30 A.M. on the 10th March. A passing steamer kindly towed the Life-boat part of the way, and on reaching the sands she found the schooner Fred, of Larvik, bound for Swansea, with a cargo of timber, ashore. As the help of the Life-boatmen was not then required the Life-boat stood by the vessel until she floated ; she then set sail for Deal, arriving at 1 P.M. The weather was hazy and cold with a moderate E.N.E.
