Dresden, of Hartlepool, whilst bound from Hamburg to Hartlepool with a general cargo, struck on the Longscar Rocks at 11.30 P.M. on the 9th April.

In response to her signals the No. 2 Life-boat Charles Ingleby was launched at 2 A.M. and proceeded to her. On reaching the vessel the Coxswain hailed her, and the Captain informed him there was one passenger and also the stewardess, who wished to be landed.

They were therefore .taken into the Life-boat and conveyed ashore. Before the Life-boat left the vessel the Captain declined any further assistance, and stated that he would signal should he require any more help.
