Navigator

About 8 P.M. on the llth January, the Coastguard reported that there was a vessel on the Splaugh rock, and the Life-boat Tom and Jennie was promptly despatched to her assistance. After a heavy beat against wind and tide the Life-boat found the schooner Navigator, of Arklow, as stated. She went along- side and rescued the six men on board, regaining her station at 6 o'clock the next morning. The schooner was bound from Liverpool to Foynes with a cargo of coal, and but for a sudden change in the direction of the wind after the crew were rescued she would have become a total wreck..
