Caledonia
During a whole W.S.W. gale on the 6th January a fishing-boat was observed in the offing in a helpless condition, with her foremast carried away. In response to her signals the No. 1 Life-boat Sarah Jane Turner was promptly despatched to her assistance under sail, but before she could reach her another fishing-boat went to the help of the men on board.
The fishing-boat took the boat in tow and proceeded towards the harbour. As there was a heavy sea running the Life- boat stood by the fishing-boats, until both were in safety, she then returned to her station and was re-housed. The disabled boat was the Caledonia of Ferryden..
