Margaret and Ann

At 8.45 on the morning of the 13th June a message was received that a vessel was in distress near Strumbles Head about three miles from the Life-boat station.

The No. 2 Life-boat Appin was promptly manned and proceeded to the position indicated where they found the smack Margaret and Ann of Cardigan, anchored in a very dangerous position close under the rocks with a heavy ground sea running. When the Life-boat went alongside the Master stated that he required assistance, and engaged the Life-boatmen to save his vessel and take her to Fishguard Roads.
